"Ummm... People are staring..." Sarah whispered, her cheeks tinged with a rosy hue as she awkwardly shifted under the weight of their gazes. It was as if the entire café had suddenly paused its chatter, all eyes fixated on her and her rather unfortunate mishap. She tried to laugh it off, but the muffled giggles and raised eyebrows made her wish she could sink into the floor.
"Well, you did drop your scone, love," Tom said, attempting to stifle a grin, "and it did go flying across the room like a little pastry rocket."
The laughter that followed was infectious, yet Sarah felt the heat rise to her ears as she clumsily knelt to retrieve the scattered crumbs. "Alright, alright," she sighed, flashing a sheepish smile at their amused faces. "Clearly, I'm the entertainment today!"
As she stood, dusting the remnants of her embarrassing moment from her hands, she couldn't help but join in the laughter. After all, if one had to be the centre of attention, it might as well be for a bit of light-heartedness.
