Easy Mince Pie Recipe
This festive favourite is perfect for those cosy winter evenings. Here’s a simple recipe to whip up a batch of delicious mincemeat pies without any fuss.
Ingredients:
- 375g ready-made shortcrust pastry
- 400g jar of mincemeat
- A dusting of icing sugar (for serving)
- Milk (for brushing)
Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 180°C (fan oven) or 190°C (conventional).
-
Roll out the shortcrust pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 3mm thickness. Use a round cutter to cut out circles for the base of your pies, ensuring they’re slightly larger than your tart tin holes.
-
Press the pastry circles firmly into the tin, making sure they sit snugly. Spoon a generous amount of mincemeat into each pastry shell, filling them about three-quarters full.
-
Use the remaining pastry to cut out smaller circles or stars to place on top of the mincemeat. Brush the edges with a little milk to help them stick together.
- Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown. Allow them to cool slightly before dusting with icing sugar.
Serve warm or at room temperature with a dollop of brandy butter or a scoop of ice cream. These easy mincemeat pies are sure to bring a touch of Christmas cheer to your gatherings! Enjoy!
